Facts about children and their addiction on media
Children of the 20th century can't imagine the world without smartphones, laptops, television, etc... It is a part of their every day life. Due to the American research from STATISTA, children spend much more time using electronics than they think. Teenagers aged from 12 to 17 years spend about 14 hours weekly watching television, while the number among children aged 2 to 11 years is raising up to 20 hours per week (American Statistics, 2016). If we want to see more facts, American Psychological Association made a research focusing on children connected with advertising. The research showed that advertising usually achieves its intended effects. It is estimated that advertisers spend more than $12 billion per year to reach the youth market and that children view more than 40,000 commercials every year. Advertising market has dramatically increased since 1970s and it is also strongly connected with globalization. Products are once launched in one country and afterwards they are distributed all around the world (American Psychological Association, 2017).
